Carm Kuivenhoven

Secretary and Show Co-Chair
Hello, I’m Carmi (not Carmen), and go by just “Carm.” You may notice that I have an extra creative style, but I try to balance it out with simplicity. I own a business called “Rhythm in Foliage,” and my focus is on sustainable products and services that cater to Gardening & Art. I have ambitious dreams to not only be accountable for my business’ social impact, but also to run my business at a net of negative carbon use. This business reflects my childhood dream of becoming a sustainable architect.
I began my love for orchids recently. In the last year I’ve been diving into the world of orchids to connect with nature and my late grandma, who was a die-hard Phaleanopsis fan and focused on orchids endemic to the Philippines, where she grew up. I like to explore new species and really get to know where the plants come from and how they thrive. I recently have been diving into ceramics and creating indoor plant arrangements that don’t require too much attention. Although, I love a good collection, I like to grow plants that don’t require too much effort to maintain. I believe that if a plant is put into the right conditions, they almost don’t need us.

I am thrilled to be part of the SFOS community, to serve as your Secretary and to help run the shows as a Show Co-Chair.
