What Our Members Are Saying
Chris Mende
We are group of quite diverse people whose deep love of orchids, orchid lore, culture, conservation, photography and discovery trips, bind us together. We each have many plant interests and study and learn continuously. For most of us the greenhouse or garden is delight and solace, and we revel in figuring things out, solving the puzzles of each plant. Among the group are not only many experienced orchid hobbyists, but also some highly skilled professional growers, authors, photographers, and even American Orchid Society judges who are generous with sharing their knowledge. Our show and tell display tables at the monthly meetings are often quite breathtaking! And of course we put on an amazing annual large winter show as well as a smaller summer one. Attendance is fun, but active participation and volunteering are the best way to really enjoy the full experience of being a member of SFOS.
