Adam Farrar spent most of his childhood in the Sierras spending time wandering in the woods behind his house or working in the family garden. After moving here to attend San Francisco State University in 2000, escaping to SF's many parks helped keep him connected to nature. When his wife received a phalaenopsis as a gift, Adam was determined to care for it and see it bloom again. When it did, word got out and he began receiving the flowerless castoffs of family and friends. While shopping for a gift in July 2021, a florist introduced Adam to the SFOS and he joined right away. He's eager to explore the greater world of orchids.
During the day, Adam works as a Business Operations Specialist for a company that provides research, evaluation and technical assistance. As part of his company's Program Management Office, he ensures each project in the company is as efficient and productive as possible. He earned his Project Management Professional certification in 2019.
His non-plant interests include spending time with his pets, comic books, Star Wars, baking, and rooting for the SD Padres.
